# Import from other browsers

> Move bookmarks, passwords, history, cookies, and tabs from Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Arc, and other browser profiles into Strawberry.

Use browser import when you want Strawberry to feel useful immediately with your existing bookmarks, saved credentials, browsing history, cookies, and open tabs.

## Open import

1. Open `strawberry://settings/profiles`.
2. Find **Import from another browser**.
3. Choose the source browser and source profile.
4. Pick the data types to import.
5. Start the import and review the result summary.

## Supported data types

Depending on source browser, operating system, and local profile availability, Strawberry can import:

* Passwords
* Bookmarks
* History
* Cookies
* Open tabs

## Supported sources

The codebase includes migration strategies for:

* Chrome-family browser profiles
* Safari
* Firefox
* Zen
* Arc

Arc migration includes Arc-specific bookmark and Space handling. Zen migration keeps Essentials as pinned tabs and imports Pins into bookmark-bar folders by Space. Chrome-family imports can include current tabs when local browser data is available.

## Password import notes

Password import can require access to your operating system keychain or secure storage. If Strawberry cannot access the source password store, it may skip passwords and import other selected data types.

## Cookie import notes

Cookie import can help keep you signed in, but it depends on source browser encryption and session compatibility. Some sites may still require sign-in after migration.

## Best practices

* Close the source browser before importing if the profile database is locked.
* Import bookmarks and passwords first if you want a low-risk migration.
* Import cookies and tabs when you want to continue a browsing session.
* Keep your old browser installed until you verify the Strawberry import result.

## Troubleshooting

If an import fails or imports fewer items than expected:

1. Confirm the source browser profile exists locally.
2. Close the source browser and retry.
3. Try importing one data type at a time.
4. Check whether the source browser requires OS-level permission for passwords or cookies.
5. Report an issue from the Strawberry app menu if the problem persists.
