# Storage and cleanup troubleshooting

> Free up storage, manage large chats, understand public links, and choose the right cache or site data cleanup action.

Use `strawberry://settings/storage` for app storage and `strawberry://settings/privacy` for browser data cleanup.

## Check storage usage

1. Open `strawberry://settings/storage`.
2. View total storage used.
3. Open **More** for category breakdown.

Empty chats are not saved to disk until you send your first message.

## Free up space

Use storage settings to clean large local categories such as chat images or large chats when available.

For site-specific data, use privacy settings or site settings.

## Cache versus cookies and site data

* **Clear Cache** keeps cookies, local storage, IndexedDB, and saved site data.
* **Clear Cookies and Site Data** signs you out of websites and can remove preferences.
* Site **Clear cache** clears only that site's cache storage and Strawberry website metadata cache.
* Site **Clear site data** removes that site's cookies, local storage, IndexedDB, WebSQL, service workers, and cache storage.

## Public links

Public file links are snapshots. If you change the source file or folder, publish again to update the public view.

To stop access, revoke the link from the share dialog.

## File preview issues

Spreadsheet files such as `.xlsx`, `.xls`, `.csv`, and `.tsv` render as tables in chat artifact previews. Unsupported binary files show an **Open externally** option.

HEIC and HEIF image attachments are converted to JPEG during chat image preparation before AI upload.
